CT Techworker Coalition

Desperate to produce any kind of “good” economic news, the state of Connecticut entered into an agreement to pay Infosys $14 MILLION to set up an office in Hartford, where they promise to hire 1,000 workers over the next few years.

This made great headlines in the 2018 campaign for Governor. Ned Lamont, our new governor, was one of the original architects of the deal. He toured the state and bragged about his “win.”

But a growing number of people are starting to call the deal into question. The business model of Infosys – and the rest of the India-based IT oursourcing firms, is to use large armies of foreign workers (here on H1-B, L-1, B-1 and OPT Visas) to undercut American workers at corporations all over America. Wherever they show up, Americans are sent packing to the unemployment line.

Consider the facts:

Infosys has been fined a record $34 MILLION for fraud and abuse in the US Visa worker program.

Infosys has been accused of having a No-American-Need-Apply policy

Infosys has been repeatedly accused of discriminating against Americans in countless lawsuits filed across the country

Infosys continues to displace American workers at a record pace.

These facts are easy to discover. Simply visit Google and do a search on Infosys and these things come up. (We’ve gathered some of those for you here.)

So why is the state partnering with Infosys, a company whose very business model depends on putting Americans out of work? How is this economic development?

The CT Techworker Coalition formed to get these questions answered. We’re confident that once Ned Lamont honestly answers these questions, the deal will be scrapped. Either our leaders will be revealed as totally ignorant – or they will admit they’re investing a new future for Connecticut and ushering a race-to-the-bottom economy that will decimate the middle class.

We won’t get our answers easily. Join us at our January 26th rally in Hartford to learn more about how you can help us get this deal scrapped – and let our politicians know that we disagree about their plans for our future.
